Cold Weather = Snow Making over at Ski Sapphire!

Cold winter weather returns and that means snow making operations kick up big time at Ski Sapphire!

Temps in the 20's and highs only in the 40's will allow the snow crew to lay it down! Ski Sapphire's target open is Dec 19th.

Christmas Parade this weekend!

The annual Cashiers Christmas Parade is this Saturday!

Sapphire Valley Resort has one awards each of the last 4 years for it's Theme in Motion designs! 

The parade starts a noon at the Cashiers Crossroads - come on up for a 3 mile tailgate party and see what Gary Wilson and the crew have for the Resort's float this year!

BLOG NEWS: Report from Ski Sapphire Valley

The word from the Ski Sapphire Valley Mountain Manager is this: all the systems from the water intake on the Horsepasture River to the top of the mountain snow guns are ready to blow snow! 

If they can blow for even an hour or two this coming Sunday and Monday they will -  and that means there is a chance of getting the Frozen Falls Tube Park open over Thanksgiving!

Songwriters Round Benefit - a great event!

SAPPHIRE SONGWRITERS ROUND 2019

Great music, great BBQ and a great cause! Proceeds donated to Great Guana Cay which was virtually destroyed during recent Hurricane Dorian.  

It was standing room only for the 2019 Sapphire Songwriters Round! Here is a draft video from the event - just a short George Reeves song. We will feature all 4 artist in our summary video due out this weekend.

THE “FLYING RAPTORS” OF WINGS TO SOAR WILL BE FEATURED ON APRIL 30 AT SAPPHIRE RESORT

One of the top wildlife programs in the Southeast, Wings to Soar and their “Flying Raptors”, will be featured on Tuesday, April 30 at the Sapphire Valley Resort’s community center beginning at 7 pm.

Mountain Wildlife Days and the Sapphire Valley Resort are making this noted “live bird” program available for all local residents and visitors in hopes of educating and informing the public regarding the important role of wildlife in our environment.

A featured attraction at Rock City, TN during the summer, the Wings to Soar team provides an entertaining, informative and up close look at birds of prey in a professional quality presentation.

Admission price for adults is $5.00 with children admitted free.

.A strong cold front will bring chances for precipitation early
Tuesday, along with much colder Arctic air. Temperatures will
fall rapidly and snow levels will fall through the morning, with
precipitation likely tapering off in the afternoon. A brief period
of moderate to heavy snow will occur in parts of the mountains of
North Carolina and far northeast Georgia.

Super Blood Wolf Moon!!! Over Sapphire Valley!!!!

A total lunar eclipse occurred all over North and South America between the evening of Sunday, January 20 and the early morning hours of Monday, January 21.

As this supermoon was also a wolf moon (the first full moon in a calendar year), it was referred to as a "super blood wolf moon" due to the red color of the Moon - caused by sunlight passing through the Earth's atmosphere.
